DIVINE MERCY ACADEMY
JANUARY 2012 NEWSLETTER

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
A special flyer will be coming home in January with our Catholic Schools Week activities. The theme for this year is “Catholic Schools – Faith. Academics. Service.” We have a full week planned, including a visit from a guest author and illustrator, a writer’s workshop, academic competitions, our annual Talent Show and many more activities.

TALENT SHOW PRACTICE
Get your acts together for our annual talent show scheduled for Catholic Schools Week. Dawn Larson and Beth Hewitt are going to organize the actual show. They are hoping more parents or grandparents will come forward to offer their assistance. Students are asked to put their acts in writing and send it to the office by January 6 at the latest. Acts can be solo or group, singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, magic acts, comedy skits, athletic skills, etc. If any parent would like to perform a talent act with their child, you are certainly welcome.

A GOOD ADVENT…
DMA students had a fruitful Advent season filled with opportunities for reaching out to others. We collected Hats for the Homeless and money for the missions; made cards for prisoners, the sick and the shut ins; and we caroled at Providence. In addition, we prayed together every morning, presented our Christmas plays to the public, learned about Mary’s apparitions on our retreat day, and attended Mass and Reconciliation. Great preparation for the wondrous Christmas season!

On behalf of the staff and faculty of Divine Mercy Academy, I’d like to wish all of you a very blessed and restful Christmas. Know that you will be remembered in my prayers during Midnight Mass at my home parish. May your holidays be filled with all the things that matter most.
