     Hi 5th grade,

        Hope you are enjoying vacation ,it is soon coming to an end. If you are out school shopping, here are some things you need for our class. Hit the sales!!!  You need black & blue pens ( not eraserable ones), pencils, a ruler, crayons, colored pencils or markers, glue sticks, highlighter if you want, a container for the art supplies to put in the cubbies, scissors, a small bottle of hand santizer if you want, 2 boxes of  Kleenex  for the room and notebooks. For our room you need one one-subject wide ruled notebook or 1 three subject wide-ruled notebook., book covers, a couple of folders . If I think of anything else, I will let you know that first week of school. Enjoy the rest of vacation. See you soon. Mrs. Borghi

Leaf Collection

  Project

Due October 7, 2009

Find at least ten different leaves in their summer color (not yet changed to fall). You may include as many kinds as you like. Those over the required ten will be worth bonus points.

Flatten them in a book until you are ready to mount them.

Mount them into a collection in some fashion. You may do this any way you like. In the past students have mounted them on art paper and covered them with plastic wrap to keep them from drying out and becoming dust before they were viewed and graded. Some have used scrapbooking techniques to show off their collection. Others have put them into photo albums, used document sheet protectors, and various other ways to display the leaves.

The leaves must be labeled with the name of the tree. Higher points will be awarded if the Latin name is included as well.

Label with the location they were found.

The collection must have a title page.

The collection must have an index with name and page number in the collection.

A ginko leaf will be worth bonus points!

Be creative. Creativity is also worth bonus points!
